Studying in Chicago, Anna Stechschulte cultivated an intensive design experience, anchored in construction and functionality. She enjoys being outside her comfort zone in order to push herself into new methods that help her develop a broadened perspective with expanded resources.

Due to her interdisciplinary college career, Anna has found inspiration within child related products as well as furniture, domestic products, fashion, and more. After exploring The School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s curriculum and vast resources, Anna is grounding her skills within the real world environments of the product design field.

While seeking many avenues of our vibrant world, Anna works to uncover the niche. Broadening her horizons and finding influences along the way, she build the world she envisions for herself. Within this vast world, her work acknowledges femininity, playful curiosity, and the human. The most important relationship between object and user is the humanity between the two. The object would not exist without the human and similarly would have no function.

Anna’s intention is to create objects for this world that can relate and be applied to other perspectives. A life well designed in a reflection of your own personal identity is a part of life worth enjoying. Expression of one's identity is often done outwardly, whether something worn on the body or by the home. Extending invitations to others to occupy your space can exhibit a deeper understanding of who you are. Anna is interested in the modern person in these domestic spaces. How can you provide a modern heirloom? How can you share a space?

In her creative process, Anna combines traditional techniques with modern ideas and technology to create a contemporary lifestyle. In our fast paced world, it seems more and more uncommon to come into contact with craft in the midst of hyper-consumerism. Anna wishes to foster intentionality and intimacy through craft.
